Malaika Hennie-Hamadi and Hannan Younis have grabbed the lead roles within the Canadian streaming TV comedy Bria Mack Will get A Life.
Hennie-Hamadi has TV credit with Age of the Residing Useless, The Handmaid’s Story and the Worry Thy Roomate crime drama. Younis’ small display credit embody Ruby and the Nicely, TallBoyz, Firestarter and The Boys.
The cameras will begin rolling this week on the half-hour comedy from creator and showrunner Sasha Leigh Henry; New Metric Media, the producer of Letterkenny and Shoresy; and the Crave streaming TV service.
Hennie-Hamadi will play Bria “Mack” McFarlane, a 25-year-old Black girl and college graduate in a primarily white world, a journey made each troublesome and tolerable by Black Assault, her invisible hype woman performed by Younis who helps her navigate life’s frustrations and hurdles.
As Bria balances being essentially the most educated member of the family and her overdue bank card invoice, Black Assault expresses her internal ideas that reveal who Bria desires to be, however doesn’t consider she’s allowed to.
